What comes with
every server
Root access, a public IPv4 and inbound DDoS scrubbing come with all three plans. Snapshots, backups, block storage and reserved IPs cost extra. The prices are on this page.
Root on a machine that boots its own kernel.
Every server is a KVM virtual machine with a kernel of its own. Containers share the host's. Yours comes with root and a public IPv4, on all three plans.
A full-disk image, taken on demand.
Take one before an upgrade and roll back to it if the upgrade goes badly. The first three are free. Each one after that is $1 a month, and it keeps billing every month you keep it.
Automated backups at 20% of the monthly price.
Switch backups on and the server's bill goes up by a fifth. A $10 Flare becomes $12. Switch them off and it goes back down.
Extra disk at $0.10 per GB a month.
Attach a volume when the plan's disk stops being enough, detach it when it isn't needed. A detached volume still bills. It bills until you delete it.
Up to three addresses you keep.
$3 a month each, held on your account and moved between servers whenever you want. A reserved IP bills for as long as it exists, whether or not a server is using it.
Inbound scrubbing at no extra charge.
Inbound DDoS scrubbing sits in front of every server in every region. It is included in the price you already pay.
Snapshots and backups are priced differently
A snapshot is one image of one disk, taken when you click the button. Backups are automated and priced against the server instead of per image. The two bills are separate.

A snapshot keeps billing for as long as you keep it. If you took one before an upgrade six months ago and the upgrade went fine, it is still on the invoice.
What the network side costs
Every plan ships with an address and an allowance. Go past the allowance and the overage is a cent a gigabyte, billed at the same rate in Houston as in Singapore.
The hardware underneath is a mix
Some hosts are AMD EPYC, some are Ryzen, some are Intel; the memory is DDR4 on some of them and DDR5 on others; the storage is Gen 4 NVMe on every host, whatever the CPU turns out to be. We don’t promise a specific model.
Four things that keep billing after you stop using them
Hourly is the monthly price divided by 730, and a month of hours never adds up past the monthly price. Stopping a server does not stop its bill. Destroying it does, in the hour you destroy it.

What’s the difference between a snapshot and a backup?

Is DDoS protection an add-on?
No. Inbound scrubbing is included on every server in every region at no extra charge.
How many IP addresses can I hold?
Every server gets a public IPv4. You can reserve up to three more at $3 a month each and reassign them whenever you want. A reserved IP bills while you hold it, attached to a server or not.
What happens if I stop a server?
It stops running and keeps billing at the plan rate. Billing stops when you destroy the server, in the hour you destroy it. Take a snapshot first if you want the disk back later.
Does the price change by region?
No. A plan costs the same in Houston as it does in Singapore, and the same will be true of the regions we add.
What if a server goes down?
The SLA is 100% uptime. Credits scale with how long the downtime lasted.
